iPhone App and Backup Now Free

We’ve got big news…

Backup My Stuff and the full version of vipOrbit for iPhone are now FREE!

If you’re an iPhone Lite version user, you’ll want to pay close attention:  We will NOT issue any further updates for the iPhone Lite app.

As a matter of fact, we are removing it from the App Store. The good news is that if you’re still on the free version (the one with a max of 100 contacts) you will now be able to get the Full version for FREE and start managing ALL of your relationships with vipOrbit! Cool, huh?

If you’re asking yourself, “Wait, I already upgraded, don’t I have the Full version?” As far as app functionality, yes, you sure do!  However, iTunes sees the Lite and Full versions as two distinct apps.

If you can’t remember which version you started with, we’ve got you covered. Log into your iTunes account and view your past purchases.  Search for VIPorbit and look for words like Lite and In-App Purchase.

So what to I do next? And what happens to my data?

Step 1:

Write down your username and password. This is IMPORTANT. In case you have forgotten, you can find you username on the Owner Info screen. Just tap More > Owner Info to see your username.

If you can’t recall your password, go to https://www.myviporbit.com and click "Forgot username or password." You will receive an email to the address on your Owner Record with the link to the Reset Password page. Simply follow the steps to reset your password and make sure not to forget it!

If you are NOT using vipSync, stay here and continue with Step 2.  If you are using vipSync, we’ve got you covered in the next section so jump down to Step 9.

Step 2:

Make sure you’re on a Wi-Fi connection and not cellular data.  Backup your data by tapping the Backup button on the Dashboard.

Step 3:

Tap on More > Backup My Stuff and tap the green Restore button to verify your backup completed.

Step 4:

Delete the “Lite” version of vipOrbit. (To delete an app, press and hold the app icon until it starts to jiggle, tap the x in the top left corner and tap Delete to confirm.)

Step 5:

Download the full version of vipOrbit for the iPhone from the App Store. There is only one iPhone version now and it’s free!

Step 6:

When the login screen appears use your current username and password from Step 1 to login. (Make sure you’re still on a Wi-Fi connection!)

Step 7:

Select your Country and then tap Next.

Step 8:

On the User options screen tap the Restore button and tap on the most recent backup file to use.

That’s it! You’re ready to go!

Step 9:

If your iPhone is your Primary device, backup your data by tapping the Backup button on the Dashboard.  This is extra insurance to have since we’re going to move-in again from your other device.   (Make sure you’re on a Wi-Fi connection!)

If you receive the message below, this means your iPhone is not your Primary device.  Not a problem, you can skip down to Step 11.

Step 10:

If you were able to backup, then your iPhone is your Primary device and we have to change it to Secondary to complete this process. To do this, log in to https://www.myviporbit.com with your username and password you gathered in Step 1.  Locate the device currently listed as Secondary, click where it says Change Sync Type and you will get the Change Sync Type prompt. Change the device to Primary and click OK.  You’ll receive a message to confirm the change, click Continue.  By default, your iPhone will become your Secondary device. If the sync type for your iPhone does not automatically change to Secondary, just click on it in the device list and change it manually.

Step 11:

Go to your Primary device and create a move-in file like when you first setup vipSync:

iPad:  Tap the Tools cog wheel, tap Data Synchronization, tap the Create Move-in File button.

Step 12:

After the move-in file has completed and uploaded, go back to the iPhone and delete the “Lite” version of vipOrbit.  (To delete an app, press and hold the app icon until it starts to jiggle, tap the "X" in the top left corner and tap Delete to confirm)

Step 13:

Download the full version of vipOrbit for the iPhone.  There is only one iPhone version now and it’s free!

Step 14:

When the login screen appears use your current username and password from Step 1 to login. (Make sure you’re still on a Wi-Fi connection!)

Step 15:

Select your Country and then tap Next.

Step 16:

On the User options screen tap the button Show Sync Options

Step 17:

On the Data Synchronization screen tap the button Get Move-in File.  It will start downloading and converting the data for the iPhone app.  This process might run a while depending on the number of Contacts, Logs, Activities, etc.

When it’s complete, that is it; you’re ready to roll! The next update you see will knock your socks off.

Thank you for your continued loyalty to vipOrbit. Now, get out there and build more meaningful relationships!

All the best,

The Team at vipOrbit
